 | Hailing from the South Suburbs of Chicago, EAT A PEACH, landed the annual Publisher's Awards as "SHINING STARS OF 2000," during the second half of the evening. While the "Reader's Poll" winners are announced prior to the awards night, the "Publisher's Awards" are kept secret each year until the night of the event. The band emerged out of nowhere at the tail end of 1999 to become the most consistantly drawing and popular club band of 2000 in N.W. Indiana and South Side clubs. Frontman BOB "Slim" SZANY –– who was also voted by our readers as "TOP LOCAL SONGWRITER" and "FAVORITE RAPPER/VOCALIST" in this year's "Reader's Poll" is pictured giving a shout out to the band's fans.

 | Vocalist/lyricist/frontman and general party animal –– BEN LOOP -- of AMERICAN MOTHERLOAD gives thanks to his A.M. bandmates and their growing legion of fans after being voted by Midwest BEAT Magazine readers as their "FAVORITE LOCAL VOCALIST" of 2000. The band cleaned up that night. They were chosen as "TOP ORIGINAL MUSIC ARTIST" and their album "BURNS LIKE WHISKEY" also took honors as "TOP LOCALLY PRODUCED MUSIC ALBUM" of 2000 and "BEST ALBUM ART."

Just two days away from departing on their first national tour, Chicago's newest success story –– NO ONE -- were on hand to personally accept their award as one of the region's "TOP 3 MOST PROMISING NEW ARTISTS." Newly signed to Immortal/Virgin Records and featured on the 2001 OZZFEST Tour, NO ONE has members who hail from both the South Suburbs and N.W. Indiana. The lads from NO ONE also graciously accepted a wheel-barrel full of awards for their very good friends –– DISTURBED –– the South Side band who racked up double-platinum sales this past year with their CD, "The Sickness." Disturbed, who personally accepted their awards for "TOP CHICAGOLAND BAND" and other categories were on tour and unable to attend this year's special gala.
