As the lights dimmed, the crowd cheered and Skye Sweetnam jumped out on stage.  Opening for Britney Spears is a tough task, but Skye held her ground.

She opened her set with a bang, singing her upbeat track, “Billy S.”  Her electic mix of pop, rock, and punk makes her music comparable to Avril Lavigne.  But what sets her apart from other pop acts is her ability to express herself through words.

Skye writes/co-writes all of her songs.  Watching 13-year old Sweetnam was an enjoyable event because she is an artist who is not stagnant on stage.  She moves well and keeps audience member’s interest.  Skye Sweetnam has a promising future.

In fact, she has just agreed to open for Britney Spears while the Onyx Hotel tours through Europe.  Undoubtly, she will continue to rise to stardom.

The main event of the night started at about 9 o’clock. Britney Spears started her show with a very tame performance of “Toxic” wearing a black leather body suit.  Spears danced and rode around on a “Britney Mobile”.   As the night progressed, the crowd traveled through different parts of the Onyx Hotel.  Audience members went from the Mystic Lounge , where Spears performed jazzy versions of “Baby, One More Time”, and “Oops, I Did It Again” to her hotel room.

The night made its way from a PG to a XXX rating.  During the hotel segment, Spears danced erotically with her scantily clad dancers to “Touch Of My Hand”, and “Breathe”.   The show was visually breathtaking and very innovative.

Spears will be touring until the end of August with the Onyx Hotel.  Though the tickets are a bit expensive, the show is worth the money!
