Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo Taste of Chicago July 2, 2004

The cool, Chicago summer night that had descended on Grant Park with a light breeze, was soon to become a thunderous rock 'n' roll storm as the lights rose on stage and Pat Benatar's capable band –– bassist Mick Mahan and drummer Billy Ashbaugh –– strode to their respective places and awaiting the soon to come nod from the singer's bandleader/guitarist/husband, Neil Giraldo. Dressed in a long black-sleeved, button-down top with black pants, Benatar along with guitarist/husband/producer Giraldo blew through their loooooong list of hits. Benatar still has full control of the powerful vocals that made her a female rock icon in the 1980s and early 1990s. She performed flawlessly such hits as –– "We Live For Love," "Hell Is For Children," "Heartbreaker," and a beautiful and haunting acoustic version of "Love Is A Battlefield." Not forgetting that she was in the blues city of Chicago, she performed "True Love" off her 1991 blues-oriented CD with the same title. A highlight of the evening was when Giraldo ventured into the enthusiastic crowd and played some mean blues guitar riffs. Benatar is touring to promote her latest CD, GO" which was released in 2003 along with her DVD videography called "Choice Cuts" which includes over 25 videos showcasing her career. The Benatar-Giraldo songs and live shows seem invincible, so check-out their tour schedule and you will get all fired up in hearing their classic rock songs.
