When I found out that new country artist, Billy Currington, was coming to the small town of Kouts, Indiana I was unbelievably excited.  This musician that I saw on CMT daily was now going to be up close and personal with his fans at Cronies Charhouse and Ginmill.  Upon arriving at Cronies it was apparent that loyal fans to all three bands playing that night were ready and willing to be rocked.

The night started out with Dayna Malow, an original pop/country band from Chicago with a long list of incredible accomplishments.  Petite Dayna Malow is anything but petite when she lets those vocals fly.  She and her band rocked the house with tunes like "Nightmare in Shining Armor" and their personalize version of GNRís "Sweet Child O' Mine."  The band as a whole was as professional as they were entertaining.

Up next was Jimmy Heinrich and Western Haze, another band I am proud to say is from the Region.  With Jimmy's cordless mic and guitar he made sure that every fan in the house got up close entertainment whether he was just passing by or standing on the chair in front of them.  The band had incredible energy and kept everyoneís happily given attention with their great set of original songs and covers.

Finally, Currington entered the stage.  The whole place was revved and ready for this country artist's acoustic strumming and smooth voice.

Accompanying Billy were the other three guys in his band, including one killer lead guitarist who was celebrating his birthday with a line of shots bought by pleased fans and a line of Indiana 105 stickers strategically adorning his pants.

With a big smile on his face and a healthy "Woooooo!" after each song, Currington sang us all into a sweet country daze.  With songs like "Where the Girls Are", "Hangin' Around", "Off My Rocker", and "I Wanna Be a Hillbilly" he had the whole place dancing.  And with his hit songs "Walk a Little Straighter" and "I Got a Feelin'" he had the whole place singing along.

At one point Currington's band exited and Billy sat alone on the stage crooning soft love ballads to the audience, which was a realk hit with the ladies in the audience, because it was as if the artist were personally singing to each.

Then the band come back on to rock us one more time with an amazing performance of "Stand By Me."

All in all, it was an incredible night with incredible talent both local and national.  It gives a proud feeling to see amazing musical talent like Dyna Malow and The Western Haze boys who originate from our home turf here in the Region.  Both did an amazing job and are artists to watch closely.

Cronies Charhouse and Gin Mill was packed for this show and it was a total rush to watch a rising young national act like Billy Currington come to the venue and play 10 feet from you instead of on large outdoor screens 400 feet away.

This concert was my first ever visit to Cronies and it is a great place to enjoy live music.  It's not too small and not too big and they seem determined to continue serving up the greatest local and national talent they can find.

Cronies has a great staff and a nurtured small town atmosphere, but when Billy Currington comes around, even small towns get to rockin'... country style!
