When Jet last visited Chicago last March, it was to play at the Vic Theater as the opening act for The Vines.  Jet so impressed region rock fans, that when The Vines were only a few songs into their headline set, sections of the Vic audience began shouting expletives asking for Jet to return.

Those fans got their wish, when Jet returned to rock the House Of Blues for their own show on July 6 bringing along all their familiar hooks and great rock rhythms.  The HOB date also happened to be guitar/vocalist Nic Cester's birthday and the audience made him a present of tremendously enthusiastic response.

A majority of the HOB crowd were clearly very familiar with all of the band's music and sang along loudly, especially when mid way through the set, they ripped into such recent hits as "Are You Gonna Be my Girl" and "Cold Hard Bitch."

The show began with a bang as they hit the stage rocking furiously on "Get What You Want" and "Last Chance." Then they whipped out their newest radio hit "Roll Over DJ," which made the dedicated audience of Jet fans roar with approval.

Jet never let up through the course of the set.   They rocked their loyal legion long and hard, ending up the set with "Take It Or Leave it."   Reappearing for their well deserved encore, brothers Nic and Chris Cester (drums/vocals) took center stage and sang to us acoustically the stellar song, "Move On'."  The harmonies were on  the dime and the moment a memorable one.

With the rest of the band returning to join the rock 'n' roll siblings, Jet left the audience with a rave up version of the early Elvis Presley chestnut, "That's Alright Mama."

Chicago HOB patrons were very much into this fast rising new band and one could not help but overhear exiting fans talking about the great show and how well the band rocked that night.   A strong performance from a strong street-level new band who –– surprise surprise –– can actually live up to the hype that has surrounded them.
