Concert Review: Date: July 1, 2005 Venue: Gunther Murphy’s, Chicago IL Band: The Vacation Review by: Anita Maree LandePhotos by: Niva Bringas The Vacation deal for Chicago
The Vacation slithered into Gunther Murphy’s club, to showcase songs from their album “Band from World War Zero” which is on Echo label. Their music is raw punk-rock to its finest. When the band took stage the attack began. This L.A. based band is a mix somewhere between The Sweet and Jet with a taste of T-Rex grinded in. The Vacation consists of identical twins and band founder’s Ben and Steve Tegel on lead vocals and guitar respectively, along with bassist Dutch and Denny on drums.
The energy of The Vacation music just kept revving up during the night. Some of the songs they performed included “I’m No Good,” “Destitute Prostitutes,” “White Noise,” and they ended the night with the punch-hitting “Make Up Your Mind.” This band has high potential to knockout the world with their fist-driving songs and hook-driven lyrics.
This vacation is well worth the trip. For more information on The Vacation visit: www.thevacationmusic.com |
