Antigone Rising Pushes It To The Extreme At Schubas.

Lava recording artists’ Antigone Rising, a five-piece all rock ‘n’ roll female band from the New York area, blasted their way into Chicago to showcase a variety of songs from their soon to be released new studio album,  along with songs culled from their live CD from 2003 called Traveling Circus.

Cassidy, the band’s emotional and powerful, blond-curly haired lead singer soared through the night beautifully as she took the group through song after song.  The night kicked off with “Goin’Down,” followed immediately by their power-punch song “Push It”.

The talent of guitarist sisters, Cathy and Kristen Henderson seemed limitless that night on stage as they lent some spine chilling background vocals to most of the songs, including crowd favorite, “What?,” a song featured on the season finale of the T.V. show Third Watch.  Also noteworthy was drummer, Dena Tauriello and bassist Jen Zielenbach who round out this remarkable young band with extremely tight grooves and kept the pulse of the show pounding.

During the set they introduced a catchy new song called, “Precious Thing,” which was well received by the audience. Cassidy  then dove head first into their pop-rock crowd favorite, “New Jersey.” Their heart-wrenching ballad, “Longshot,” came next.  It’s about a one-night stand and includes arm chewing lyrics like ––  “and if you mention one more time we could be soul mates I'll die.”   They ended the night with what is fast becoming their trademark song, “Choke”.

Antigone Rising has a rock solid fan base on the East Coast, and the ladies are traveling around the U.S. this summer to promote their music, working hard to win over new followers one fan at a time.   If while perusing your local rock ‘zine, you notice that Antigone Rising is coming to a club near you –– go and find out what all the talk is about!  Dollar for dollar, these gals give one hell of a rock ‘n’ roll show!
