When the Brides of Destruction (BOD) hit the stage around 8:30pm in Chicago with their whip-smacking song, “Shut the F$^k Up”, I knew that I was in for a killer show.  The co-founder’s of BOD –– Motley Crue’s bassist Nikki Sixx and L.A. Guns’ guitarist Tracii Guns have put together a solid, punk-metal band with lead vocals going to the highly entertaining London LeGrand, and drums to Chicago native Scot Coogan.

“Here Comes the Brides” which is the name of their tour and their nine song debut CD has an excellent mix of songs that we heard BOD rip-through that night.  Live crowd favorites at the Metro included:  “I Don’t’ Care”, “2x Dead”, “Revolution”, and one of my favorites, “Life,” where drummer Coogan takes over lead vocals.  LeGrand was an excellent choice as lead vocalist as he bit and then tore his way into every song, delivering a powerful performance that showed him to be every bit a “rock god” as his two more famous (or is that infamous?) band mates.

Sixx still has the stick-it-in-your face attitude on stage and he still knows how to play with fans’ emotions and get the audience involved with each song.  In fact, many people in the front row got drenched a few times from when the streaked red-hair Nikki started slowing spilling water out of his mouth into the mouths of his female fans.

BOD slid in a few  L.A. Guns’ songs into the set that night and the evening ended wildly when they threw in a handful of  Motley Crue songs that included –– “Live Wire” and “Piece of Your Action”.

If  you have always wanted to take that walk down the aisle, just do it!   The Brides of Destruction will be there waiting and they won’t disappoint.
