T'was the night before Halloween and all through the
crowd there was clown colored faces painted and proud.
The performance at the Riv on October 30th, was a
timely and thrilling event. I.C.P. –– other-wise known as Insane Clown
Posse –– put a new meaning to the word entertainment.
The audience excited and loaded with anticipation was
ready to play with the clowns. The truly active fans added much to the
circus atmosphere. Avid fans wore clown make-up, some were frightening and
sinister, while others appeared as harmless and happy as Howdy Doody.
As the curtain was lifted the "Wicked Wonka
Tour" carnival began. The appearance of Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope
ignited the fans. The remix of "Chikn Huntin" had juggalos
jumpin with the jesters of hop/rap. The choreography was
certainly nothing less than creative, and well executed. The performance
of "Toy Box" came complete with a big live Teddy Bear and a life
size Ragged Doll in addition to other colorful characters.
The show was a shower of entertainment as fans joyfully
crowd surfed into waves of Faygo soda pop. The performance by ICP was a
smashing success and a true sense of dark carnival was demonstrated not
only on stage but throughout
the entire theatre.
ICP has created a live audience participation
production. One thing to consider, wear soda pop proof gear. It was
certainly a great experience to catch these clowns in concert, and one
that can hardly be forgotten... even AFTER
rinsing off that sticky soda stuff.
