Foo Fighters

Allstate Arena - 10-3-05

Review by Dan Doerr

The Foo Fighters came out smokin' on Monday night at the Allstate Arena.

he anthem from the new double CD "In your Honor" started off the set and the crowd was ready. With fists pumping the anxious fans welcomed the Foo Fighters with eager excitement. Frontman Dave Grohl led the band tirelessly through a mix of some of the new tunes - "Best of You, DOA, End over End and Cold Day in the Sun" and a selection of classics - "All my Life, Learn to Fly, My Hero, Times like These, Breakout, Stacked Actors" and others. At one break Dave reflected back to seeing his first punk rock show at the Cubby Bear and how it inspired him to continue with his personal musical aspirations. The Foo Fighters kept an energetic pace and finished the evening with encore "Monkeywrench."

After 10 years together, the Foo Fighters are not showing any signs of slowing down. The 2-disc CD "In Your Honor" features disc one with the hard edged, kick butt rock tunes and disc two going into the acoustic and softer side of the band. The creativity and desire of the Foo Fighters is still plentiful and this live tour proves that the Foo Fighters will remain on the difficult legendary path toward greatness.
