Survivor has flipped-flopped lead singers more times
than J-Lo as flipped-flopped men. Today, Jimi Jamison is back being
Survivor's lead singer. Even though he is not the official voice on
some of Survivor's biggest hits like
"Eye of the Tiger" and "Poor Man's Son", his energy,
and powerful vocals are key for the longevity of the band.
This Chicago-based band was formed back in the 70's by
Frankie Sullivan, the flashy blond guitarist, who co-wrote the core hits
of the band with former keyboardist/vocalist Jim Peterick. Frankie's
guitar solos get better each time you see him. With his paisley pants, and
black shirt, he performed a 15 minute guitar solo with help of backing
musicians, Billy Ozzello (bass), Chris Grove (keyboards), and Marc Droubay
(drums).
This hard working band had the audience singing many of
their hits including -- "Burning Heart," "High On
You," "I Can't Hold Back", "Eye Of The
Tiger" and their widely popular rock ballad hit, "The Search Is
Over".
Survivor is still proving that good rock songs never
die. They go the distance, and they have never stopped, just a band
and their will to survive.
