A PEARL OF A VENUE…BRINGS BIG NAMES TO THE SOUTH SIDE!by Tom Lounges / Publisher & Editor
Last month saw the grand opening of The Pearl Room, an impressive new concert room owned by Mark and Jeanne Ferrari, that is nestled within the spacious confines of the Colosseum Entertainment Complex (19081 Old LaGrange Road) in south suburban Mokena.
The complex’s Director of Promotions, Jeff Gargas,
graciously took myself, my good buddy
Upcoming shows at The Pearl Room include rap pioneers The Sugar Hill Gang on June 5 and Robert Bradley’s Blackwater Surprise on June 14. Also, watch these pages for word about a special BEAT BASH happening at the venue in the near future.
A large staircase leads to a rather large second level, offering patrons looking for a more relaxing evening a bird’s eye view of the stage, high above those passionate fans feeling the need to bum-rush the large elevated stage that is home to the visiting artists as they perform through a state-of-the-art house sound system.
The venue boasts the swankest “green room” this writer has seen during a 20-plus year career. In fact, with the capacity to hold up to 50 people, it is more akin to a private night club than a “green room” at all, with it’s pool table, leather couches, full sized wooden wet bar and private bathrooms.
In addition to the Pearl Room, the complex houses the Colosseum Night Club, where regional bands perform on weekends; a 20,000-square foot tropical outdoor beer garden complete with imported palm trees and cabana bars; and the ritzy Capone’s Restaurant & Piano Bar, where a life-sized replica of ol’ Scarface himself is found seated at a table mid-room keeping an eye on his guests. There is also both free and valet parking the complex’s attractions.
In walking through the facility and speaking to Gargas, the Ferraris and talent buyer, Frank Mastalerz of Future Entertainment, it became clear that an awful lot of money, time and hard work has been put into the launching of The Pearl Room in Mokena.
This writer and local music fan is very happy to report that we South Side and Northwest Indiana music fans now have another concert hall featuring national artists, without having to trek all the way into the city and pay the high cost of parking.
