JUNE 7
The mainstream hip-hop sensations, The Black-Eyed Peas, lead off the month of June with their new effort, Monkey Business. Keep your ears open for a guest spot from Justin Timberlake on the album’s first single, Don’t Phunk With My Heart.
After achieving worldwide success with their 2002 release, A Rush of Blood to the Head, Coldplay return this month with their sophomore LP, X&Y.
Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is back with his new solo effort. Choose Love will arrive in stores on June 7th. The album features songs Starr recorded in his home studio in London, including a duet with Chrissie Hynde.
Also on this day, new releases will arrive from Dream Theater, Kelly Osbourne, The Billy Gibbons Band, and Seal.
JUNE 14
A live jazz album is on the way from the Wayne Shorter Quartet. The group, featuring Wayne Shorter (obviously), John Patitucci, Brian Blade, and Danilo Perez, recorded the songs during performances between 2002 and 2004, and it will be carried on the Verve label.
In Your Honor is the title of the upcoming two-disc release from the Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl and company has recorded a double LP, with the first disc electric compositions, and the second disc acoustic. The album features such noteworthy guests as Norah Jones, Josh Homme (of Queens of the Stone Age), Rami Jaffe (of The Wallflowers), and John Paul Jones (ex-Led Zeppelin).
Other new releases for the 14th include works from Eric Johnson, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Harry Connick Jr., Backstreet Boys, Static X, and AC/DC.
JUNE 21
Former Smashing Pumpkins ringmaster Billy Corgan steps front and center with the release of his first solo album. THEFUTUREEMBRACE showcases a track-list of 11 original Corgan-penned songs, and one cover song, the Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody”. Cure front man Robert Smith and former Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin both make guest appearances on the record.
Parents will appreciate this one. The Aussie children’s group The Wiggles will release yet another album on the 21st. Sailing Around the World will be on store shelves just in time for that long road trip or summer vacation.
Other notables for the day include: Master P, The Peppermints, Santana, Patti LaBelle, and Tracy Bonham.
JUNE 28
Something is on the way that is sure to be both visually and sonically pleasing to you. The double billed show of Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire –– Live from the Greek Theater –– was captured on film and is now being released in a two DVD set. The discs feature a 13-song set from Chicago, a 15-song set from Earth, Wind & Fire, and then a 7-song finale with both legendary groups on stage.
Great other releases to check out for the 28th include albums from: Beck, Missy Elliott, Redman, Twisted Sister, Shaggy, and George Clinton/Parliament/ Funkadelic.
