DUNCAN SHEIK UNVEILED

NEW MUSIC AT BORDER’S BOOKS

Multi-platinum singer/songwriter, Duncan Sheik, presented and promoted his Zoë/Rounder debut – CD/DVD-ROM White Limousine – by doing an exclusive in-store at the Borders Books & Music State Street store downtown.  Sheik’s appearance included a short performance and a signing for his fans.

Sheik became a household name with his very first single, the smash hit “Barely Breathing” from his Grammy®-nominated gold-selling debut album.

But his mainstream success may very well belie the depth of his work.   Sheik has scored for film and the stage, produced ambitious records for other artists, and enthralled audiences around the world with his remarkable voice and his talent for crafting songs.

White Limousine is Sheik’s most realized work yet – a set of catchy, thoughtful compositions that are pro-love and anti-war – both perfectly simple and breathtakingly vast.

Included in the White Limousine package are two discs, labeled MINE and YOURS.

MINE is Duncan’s version of these songs; YOURS is a DVD-ROM enabling listeners to create their own versions. Using the software provided, the listener can isolate and remix White Limousine’s many sonic layers.

This may very well be the first time a recording artist has released the entire contents of his or her album, instrument by instrument, giving listeners the ability to re-imagine the songs as they see fit.

STARS LINKED TO JOLIET PRISON BREAK

This photographer had her lens out at GRO Magazine’s Celebrity Launch and birthday bash for Prison Break actor Rockmond Dunbar. His wife Ivy was there celebrating with him. The new hit series, Prison Break, is filmed on location in Joliet, Illinois.

Wade Williams from Prison Break arrived with his wife Emma Myant.  Veteran stage and screen actor Stacy Keach, who plays the prison warden on the series, also attended, as did Chicago’s “house music” legend and innovator, Frankie Knuckles.

The event was at Victor Hotel in Chicago.
