 Fresh Faces In Fashion!

What an awesome party it was – “The GenArt Fresh Faces in Fashion 2005 IN:CHICAGO” –  presented by the IN:CHICAGO Card by American Express at Millennium Park in Chicago.

This gala brought out the fashion-conscious crowd for a great evening of innovative fashion in an energetic runway fashion show that showcased the latest creations of local designers, accented by a fabulous spread of food and drink.

Singer Liz Phair performed songs from her new CD, Somebody’s Miracle.  Restaurant entrepreneur and GenArt board member Billy Dec socialized with such guests as model Patricia Velasquez, Howie Gordon of “Big Brother” fame, and Ken Baker, author and editor of US Magazine.

Kelly Ryan O’Brien and Jeff Shaw of GenArt  gave Mayor Daley a tour of the fashion show and Hizzonor met many of the local fashion designers backstage.

Star Sightings On Michigan Ave…

Popular indie singer/songwriter, Michael Penn, gave an amazing in-store performance at Borders Books & Music on Michigan Avenue in Chicago and followed it up with a meet and greet autograph session for fans, while in town to promote his new CD – Mr. Hollywood Jr. 1947.

Penn is the younger brother of acclaimed actor Sean Penn and is married to former ‘Til Tuesday vocalist Aimee Mann, herself one of the world’s best selling indie artists on the web.

Though best known for her dance hits and success on both the Latin and  Contemporary Music charts, singer Gloria Estefan enchanted a gathering of fans with readings from her new book, “The Magically Mysterious Adventures of Noelle the Bulldog”.

Following the reading at the Michigan Avenue location of Borders Books & Music, the radiant Ms. Estefan obliged her happy Chicago-based fans with an impromptu song before taking her leave.

Multi-platinum country star  – Wynonna Judd – was also in Chicago last month at Border’s Books & Music, where she was met by a horde of fans who were eager to be close to the celebrated singer/songwrtierr.

Judd sign copies of her new book, “Coming Home To Myself”, along with copies of her new CD and DVD, Her Story.

From the heart of one of the most beloved performers in music comes a candid memoir of professional triumph, private heartbreak, and personal victory.  “Coming Home To Myself” is a coming-of-age account of a very private search for harmony and a very public rise to fame.

“Coming Home To Myself” is the result of that emotional journey – a song of personal discovery that taught Wynonna to love not just what she does, but who she is.  It is an empowering story.

Film Fest Brings Hollywood To The Heartland

The 41st Chicago International Film Festival kicked off its opening night at the Chicago Theater.  This year’s festival was again a series of star-studded events drawing several Hollywood names and faces to our toddlin’ town.

Director Cameron Crowe arrived on State Street at the Chicago Theater for the Chicago International Film Festival’s opening night during the premiere screening of the film, Elizabethtown.  Crowe pulled out his small digicam and photographed the media, commenting, “Nice shot!”

Susan Sarandon arrived to the State Street gala wearing Donna Karan . Film critic Roger Ebert interviewed her onstage before a live audience and that was followed by festival director Michael Kutza presenting Sarandon with the Festival’s prestigious golden Hugo Award.

If J-Lo Ruled The World…

Marshall Field’s State Street store unveiled the first ever “World of J-Lo Shop” in the United States.  Jennifer Lopez herself appeared and spoke to the crowd from a scaffolding five-stories high.

Following her appearance was a fashion show of the new J-Lo line, accented by zillions of diamond like crystals on the black carpet.

Fans flocked to her boutique area and were impressed.

As a parting gift, guests who attended the glamorous event at Escada on Michigan Avenue, received signed copies of  “Lipstick Jungle”, Bushnell’s latest novel about three sexy powerful career women who will do anything to stay at the top of their fields.
