by EDWARD SCOTT
SEPTEMBER 6
Kathy Valentine, of The Go-Go’s fame, will unveil her new studio LP, Light Years, on the 6th. Look for a guest appearance from none other than former KISS guitarist, Ace Frehley.
After an eight year studio hiatus, the Rolling Stones return with A Bigger Bang. The 16-song record features two songs with guitarist Keith Richards taking over lead vocals. There is even a political song on the CD written by Jagger towards Prez Bush that has been the subject of much controversy.
A Bigger Bang was produced by Don Was, who has been at the board for the group’s last two studio albums.
Also on the 6th, be on the lookout for new albums from Joan Baez, George Clinton, and 50 Cent.
SEPTEMBER 13
Former Beatle, Paul McCartney has his latest studio LP on the way. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard arrives via Capitol and features Sir Paul will be found playing most all of the instruments himself.
Since blues legend B.B. King turns 80 years young this year, he decided to title his new album after his age. B.B. King & Friends: 80, features such “friends” as Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Van Morrison, Elton John, Billy F. Gibbons, and Roger Daltrey… and that list barley scratches the surface.
Also arriving on the 13th are new releases from Lonestar, Blues Traveler, George Jones, Lil’ Kim, and Trisha Yearwood.
SEPTEMBER 20
A great CD/DVD combo set is on the way from Dickey Betts & Great Southern. Back Where It All Begins was recorded live at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame & Museum in Cleveland, OH.
Have A Nice Day is the title of the latest Bon Jovi release. The single, which bears the same name, has been in heavy rotation on radio nation wide, and one of the most popular downloads at Apple’s iTunes online music store.
Be sure to check out the new releases this day from Def Leppard, Disturbed, King’s X, Maroon 5, and Earth, Wind, & Fire.
SEPTEMBER 27
If you wanted to hear Ozzy Osbourne’s collection of cover songs but did not want to fork out the money for his last box set, here’s your chance. Under Covers will be released as a single disc on the 27th.
Neil Young will release his first LP in two years when Prairie Wind arrives on the 27th. The album is said to be full of very deep emotions drawn from Young’s entire life, and tend to bear the sonic quality of his Harvest and Comes a Time.
To round out the month, keep your ears open for new releases from Sheryl Crow, The Detroit Cobras, Gretchen Wilson, and a new DVD from cranky old Pink himself, Roger Waters.
