CD NEWS

by The Flash

Hello again everyone.  Spring is upon us, and so are some great new
releases.  So instead of the usual intro paragraph full of BS...I'll get
right to the scoop...

APRIL 4:

What You See Is What You Get is the title of the new effort from one hit
wonders Chumbawamba... You know what I see?  Another album full of crap.
Hang it up guys...

Spitfire Records will be the vehicle that send the new album to stores
from Hair Of The Dog, titled Risk.  They will also be releasing the band's
self-titled LP on the same date.

If you are into buying old albums for enhanced artwork and audio and video
bonus tracks, check this out.  Conquest, Different Worlds, Fallen Angel, Head
First, Live at Shepperton, Live In Moscow, Raging Silence and Still Heavy and
Still Proud from the Uriah Heep catalog will all be re-unveiled this month
for your listening and viewing pleasure... A 2-CD set from the great Chet
Atkins titled, Guitar Legend: The RCA Years will arrive this day...
Queensryche's landmark album Empire will be immortalized this month in gold
disc format... A new addition to the catalog of (late) Stevie Ray Vaughan &
Double Trouble is on the way. Blues at Sunrise is slated for release on the
4th as well

The Best Of The Box: Artist of the Century from RCA commemorates none
other than the King himself, Elvis Presley this month.

APRIL 11:

I have heard something good things about this band called, The Flys.
Their album Outta My Way is due out this day.

The Nixons are hoping that their new effort will be the Latest Thing,
although I highly doubt it.

To bring the estate of John Lennon a little more money, Capitol has
remixed and remastered the classic album, Imagine.  I'm glad that this
timeless work of art is being preserved for future generations to enjoy.

Da Brat will offer you Unrestricted access to the new album, in both clean
and explicit versions... To round out the date, No Doubt returns this month
with their new album.  With Return To Saturn, the band hopes to rekindle the
kind of global success that Tragic Kingdom brought them a couple of years ago.

APRIL 18:

The most anticipated release of the month (for me anyway) finally arrives
on the 18th.  Yep, the hottest band in the land...KISS...delivers Alive IV to
fans world wide, right in the midst of the band's farewell tour. If you''re a
collector of KISS memorabilia, the Japan release of Alive IV has 3 songs that
are not on the U.S. version.

It somehow seems appropriate that hot on the heels of Alive IV, will come
the long-awaited Rockology from late KISS drummer Eric Carr.  After a change
in recording label and a few changes in the date, Carr's album will finally
come to us from Dennis and the Gang over at Spitfire Records.

Live albums certainly seem to be the trend for the 18th!  Because along
with KISS, this day will bring us concert albums from Take 6, Dokken (w/Reb
Beach on guitar), and Monty Python comedian Eric Idle.  Then there's Live at
the BBC hitting stores from Fleetwood Mac... and those mind-melting gods,
Pink Floyd, will finally unveil the much anticipated album, Is There Anybody
Out There? The Wall Live 1980/81.

If you still haven't had enough live stuff... Then open your ears and
your wallets wide to drink up the live sounds of British heavies, Deep
Purple. Roger Glover and the guys are giving us the tapes from a period that
most Purple fans feel was their pinnacle - the early to mid-1970s.  So thanks
to Spitfire Records, their fans are being treated to no less than four great
concerts from that era - The Final Concerts, In Concert 1970-72, Live In
London 1974, and Scandinavian Nights 1970.

Zakk Wylde's new group, Black Label Society, will try to prove that they
are Stronger Than Death with their album...

APRIL 25:

For the final release date of the month...Toni Braxton faces The
Heat... B.B. King tells you that Makin' Love Is Good For You... Neil Young
hopes his new album will sell more than Silver & Gold...

You just might be a redneck if you buy Jeff Foxworthy's new album Big
Funny...

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will serenade you with the music
of...Meatloaf...what?!?

To end the month of April... legendary drummer Greg Bissonette rounded up
such notable players as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Robben Ford, and Steve
Stevens to guest on his new album, Submarine.

Well...that's it for now folks.  I''ll talk to you again next month.
