THE TEEN SCENE

TWO FAVES MEET FANS
Hey, everybody! Guess who's coming back to Chicago at long last?
Nobody's Angel...the totally awesome girl group you have been reading about
in this column since last summer!
Alright, I know this is R-E-A-L short notice, but the girls just told me
about their Chicago date here, opening for Backstreet Boy, A.J McLean (who is
going under the pseudonym "Johnny No Name") on April 4 at the Rosemont
Theater.
A.J. and the girls are doing a two week/nine city tour to benefit VH1's
"Save The Music" education program. Those of you lucky enough to catch this
show, will see just why I've been bragging about them so much! Those of you
not lucky enough to go, better mark your calendars NOW to catch Nobody's
Angel when they return to this area on May 27 as part of their
Polaroid-sponsored mall tour. They'll being singing, dancing and meeting
their fans at Stratford Square Mall in Chicago... Details next month!
Now speaking of mall tours, the yummy Youngstown guys (who you also know
about from this column) will be in our area for their Kodak/Sam
Goody-sponsored mall tour on April 9th. Youngstown will be at the Spring
Hill Mall (1072 Spring Hill Mall West; Dundee, IL) from 2-6 p.m. They will be
performing live inside the mall and signing autographs after their show. If
you can't make it April 9, then maybe you can catch them when they return to
Chicago on August 4, 5, and 6 as part of a full concert tour! Youngstown
will also be doing a date next month in Holland, Michigan with Christina
Aguilera. The venue and more info will be announced soon.
The guys recently called in to update me on what they've been doing. They
told me that they've recently done some selected shows with Jessica Simpson
and Britney Spears.
FIRST LOVE GETS "FREAKY"
As you know, I get to hear about a lot of brand new groups before they
hit it big. After all, you first read about Nobody's Angel and Youngstown in
this column way back in August, months before either group's album hit
stores.
Well, I'm hereby serving early notice that there is a hot new boy group to
watch our for...First Love. Straight outta Europe - Germany to be exact -
First Love could very well be the next BSB! The group consists of Delane
(21), Peanut (24), Tobi (23), and Phil (19).
First Love's first single "Freaky" is already airing on most major market
radio stations in the U.S., Chicago stations NOT being one of them. What's
up with that?
I'm telling you people, First Love is gonna be HUGE! If you wanna hear
"Freaky" (and believe me you do!) I want everyone to call B96 at: (312)
591-9696 and tell them that you wanna hear First Love's "Freaky"!
See, if enough people call in requests to the station, they'll have to play
it because of popular demand. C'mon people, back up this promising young
talent!
To give you a taste of their talent, First Love debuted at #15 on the CVC
Video Club chart, ahead of Christina Aguilera at #17 and Smashing Pumpkins
who debuted at #20.
Currently touring a handful of local New York high schools, First Love may
soon make a few stops at Chicagoland high schools! Wouldn't that be stellar?
Just a quick note... As we hit deadline for this issue and my dad was
screaming for this month's column, I had just received a CD by a new
19-year-old singer named, Jessica Riddle. More on her next month.
JUSTIN "THE GENT"...
Have you heard? 'N Sync are the new kings! They broke the first week
sales record which was previously held by the Backstreet Boys.
Speaking of N'Sync, how many of you caught Justin Timberlake's acting
debut in last month's Disney Channel film, "Model Behavior"? While there's
no word yet on it coming to home video any time soon, Disney will be
re-running it...so check your listings!
So what's Justin really like away from the group? What's it like to be in
a movie with him? I'm glad you asked...
Well, my girls - Nobody's Angel - were also in that film and when they
called to tell me about their upcoming A.J. concert, they gave me the 411 on
the REAL, behind-the-scenes Justin...
"They needed a band for a big dance scene. It being a Disney film and us
being with Hollywood Records, which is a Disney label, we got asked to do
it," said Angel Stacey Harper on how they came to be in the movie. "Then, we
learned that Justin was in the movie and it was like - 'Oh Yeah!'"
"Justin was, like, a real gentleman," she continued. "He came over to us
and politely introduced himself. I mean, everyone in the world knows he IS
Justin Timberlake, but he took the time to meet us and to show good manners.
That impressed me soooo much."
"He was kinda shy and quiet," recalled Angel Sarah Smith, "but really,
really sweet!"
B-BASH TIX BLAST OFF!
Don't forget.... Tickets for the hottest B-Bash ever are already on sale
so you better get your s before they're all gone! Just a few artists
announced for this year's B96 Bash are ~ Sisqo (is he hot or what?!?), Brian
McKnight, Pink, Joe, and Destiny's Child. Many more are expected to be
announced in the next few weeks!
In other concert news... Britney Spears totally rocked the house two
nights in a row on March 22 and 23! Both shows sold out! Missed the show?
Fear not! Britney is coming back to shake things up at Tinley Park's World
Theatre on July 7.
Will I be there? Only if I can pry the tickets out of my dad's hands!
BYE TO MR. BECK!
In closing this month I'd just like to say "Goodbye" to my very cool
social studies teacher, Mr. Beck, who has been subbing for Mrs. Huppenthal
since early last year while she's been on maternity leave.
Mr B. has has done a majorly stellar job of teaching us at Highland Middle
School. He's even been able to tame the 8th grade down a little (which is no
small task, especially when it comes to 7th hour). I'd just like to say,
"Thanks for being a great teacher and we'll miss you!!" Although, I'm sure
you can't wait to get rid of us and jet off to Florida!!!
C-ya 'round people! Catch up with me at the concerts.
