CD NEWS   (Album Release Information)

by Dave "The Flash" Grove

Hello again to all faithful Midwest Beat readers out there.  I trust
everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving, and you are now preparing for the end
of the world, oh yeah...and Christmas too.
Not to overshadow Jesus or anything... but the possible end of life for
the planet's population weighs heavier on my mind than Dec. 25th does at this
point.  Well, I'll cut the B.S. and get to the point.  Here it is...the last
CD News of the century. Optimistic bastard aren't I?
Although Guns 'N Roses' newest one, Live Era '87-'93, is technically
comes out on November 30th, I feel the need to inform you of the full story
behind it.
This two CD collection captures the biggest rock band of the '80s and '90s
during the midst of their peak.  The tracks are: Disc 1: "Nighttrain", "Mr.
Brownstone", "It's So Easy", "Welcome to the Jungle", "Dust N' Bones", "My
Michelle", "You're Crazy", "Used To Love Her", "Patience, It's Alright" (a
Black Sabbath cover) and "November Rain".  Disc 2: "Out ta Get Me", "Pretty
Tied Up", "Yesterdays", "Move to the City", "You Could Be Mine", "Rocket
Queen", 'Sweet Child O' Mine", "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", "Don't Cry",
"Estranged', and "Paradise City".
What a fitting way to end a century huh?

 DEC. 7:
Marilyn Manson delivers his Christmas present to fans a couple weeks
earlier than Santa will.  Gift Set is a live album from the shock rocker,
packaged along with a video.  Twice the Manson at one low price...as if
anybody really cared about this freak!
Former Motley Crue and Pamela Anderson skin beater, Tommy Lee resurfaces
this month with his first post-Crue effort on MCA Records.  The rap-rock band
known as Methods of Mayhem will release a self-titled LP, which features the
likes of Kid Rock, Lil' Kim, The Crystal Method, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton,
and talentless frontman from the over-hyped Limp Bizkit, Fred Durst.  Good
Luck Tommy, hope this goes well for you...
December is the month for you to look in The Tunnel, according to
Funkmaster Flex & Big Kap...  Tha Eastsidaz want everyone G'd Up this
Christmas... Anyone know the G-Code?  Juvenile will give it to us on this
day... Another album from the still-dead Notorious B.I.G. finds its way to
stores this month. Born Again comes in both "clean" and "explicit" versions,
so you can buy it at Wal-Mart.
To cap off the day, the soundtracks for "Next Friday" starring Ice Cube,
and "Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigalow" starring Rob Schneider (former SNL cast
member) will be here.

DEC. 14:
Wu- Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah returns to the spotlight this month
to deliver Supreme Clientele for Razor Sharp/ Epic Records.  The record
features GZA, Method Man, RZA, and Ol' Dirty Bastard to round things out.
Do ya like Krust?  Hmmm...all depends on where it's found... You can find
Krust in local record shops on this day where they will reveal some Coded
Language...
Amyth is claiming that The World Is Ours... Meanwhile, Angels and
Allegories is what Aerin Tedesco will be singing about... The soundtrack to
"The Green Mile", the new flick starring Tom Hanks and written by Stephen
King, will arrive this day as well.

DEC. 21:
Not too much going on here...  Only that DMX delivers the goods again on
this day, with The Dog, The Man, The God, which will be available in both
"clean" and "explicit" versions so you can get this one at Wal-Mart too...
Ex-Windbreakers star (?) Bobby Sutliff will feed you some Bitter Fruit for
your holiday meal.
Now on to January... By the way, if the world does blow up, please
disregard this section.

 JAN. 11:
Seventies guitar god and musical alchemist, Ritchie Blackmore and his wife
will unveil the debut offering of their new group, Blackmore's Night to the
world with the release of Shadow of the Moon... Phil Lee tries to prove that
he is The Mighty King Of Love...  As if we didn't already know, Black 47
tells us that there's Trouble In The Land ... The Atomic Babies give up a
self-titled release this day... And The Robbie McIntosh Band (former
Pretenders and Paul McCartney guitarist) release their debut effort,
Emotional Bends.

 JAN. 18:
Run D.M.C. will be pouring up some Crown Royal for your drinking
pleasure.  The 2- CD set features both old and new material from this
perennial rap favorite
The new year's resolution for Da 504 Boyz is to prove they are really are
Goodfellas... Jazzman Barry Mann serves up a little Soul & Inspiration...
Teen Scene columnist Sarah Lounges' has picked the little hotties of
Nobody's Angel to be a big name. We'll find out soon enough Sarah, because
the talented tarts release their self-titled slice of teen pop on this day
via Hollywood Records.  Finally, former Suede guitarist Bernerd Butler shows
us who his Friends & Lovers are to kick off 2000.

 JAN. 25:
The ultimate shock-rock band, The Genitortures will be kickin your ass
with some Machine Love, and you might even like it!
Do you know what the Criteria For A Black Widow is?  Annihilator will let
you in on that secret on this day.
Former Public Enemy member Flavor Flav has a new release due out in the
new year. His It's About Time arrives this day...ya figure he could tell time
by the size of the clock he wears around his neck.
The Melvins have a shload of guest stars on their new release, The
Crybaby.  Mike Patton (ex-Faith No More) , Hank Williams III, Tool, Leif
Garrett, and David Yow all make appearances on the record... Ol' Jeffery
Osbourne comes Kreepin' back on the scene this day as well... and to end it
all, Warren Zevon explains how Life'll Kill Ya if Y2K doesn't.

Well folks, that's all I could dig up for ya.  Happy Holidays to all, and
if I fall victim to a catastrophic event come Y2K...bury me ass up so the
people left in the world have a place to park their bicycles!  If the
Armageddon happens... it was nice knowing you.  If not...see you in February.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dave Grove has left the century...thank you and
goodnight!
