NEW MUSIC RELEASE INFO…

Hello again to all of the faithful readers of the Midwest BEAT!

For those who don’t know... I’m now a member of the United States Air Force.  I had to take time away from the column the last two issues to attend basic training.  Thanks to all who sent me e-mails of encouragement to me and my family during that time.  I come to you now from Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS.  I’m here for technical training.

This month’s column will be slightly different from those in the past.  I’ll recap some November releases you may have missed since I was absent from last issue’s pages.   I’ll also give you the scoop on December.

However, I have very little January info, since  most labels rush product out before the Holiday Season and little hits the shelves the first month of each year.  Still, there are some, so check the “Tap” in February for any recapping that might be necessary.  Here we go.

NOVEMBER  RECAP...

While I was away, blink-182 released a self-titled LP... Linkin Park went Live in Texas with a CD/DVD combo package... Former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle proclaimed via his latest post-L.S. set of tunes that he has been Fucked from Birth...

The Central Park Concert –– a 3-CD and 2-DVD set from the Dave Matthews Band, arrived in stores early in the month... A holiday album from Whitney Houston titled One Wish is available... Britney Spears is In The Zone... Korn had their fans Take a Look In The Mirror... and DVD’s came to us in time to be stocking stuffers from –– Shania Twain, Foo Fighters, Ben Harper, Reverend Horton Heat and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.

DECEMBER 2...
We’ve got a few notables delivering new products for the holiday season.  Country superstar Trace Adkins is Comin’ On Strong...  The Diary Of... is the latest from Alicia Keys...  The Good Charlotte lads have a self-titled DVD on tap...  Remember the “Thong Song”?  The same scribe who penned that “hit” –– Sisco –– is returning with a new album, Miss America...  Wrapping up the day is this month’s Midwest BEAT cover artist, David Bowie, with his 4-CD box set, Sound & Vision.

DECEMBER 9...
If you thought the 2nd was a slow day, the rest of the month keeps getting worse!  Love is Hell, Part 2 is the new Ryan Adams effort...  Hoobastank will give us The Reason.  Maybe next month their record label will give us The Reason for putting that crap out!  The Offspring have a Splinter that they just have to get out...  James Taylor has reprised an old album title of his with a slight modification with Dad Loves His Work and Flag...  DVD’s are ready this day from Sheryl Crow, Judas Priest, and Rage Against the Machine.

DECEMBER 16 & 23...
Everybody takes time off around the holidays, and musicians are no exceptions.  I’m lumping the last two release dates into one, since there is simply not much to report. Memphis Bleek gets M.A.D.E...  Sex and Rock ‘N’ Roll is Godsmack’s DVD... Matthew West is Happy it’s Christmastime...and...ummm...well... that’s it.

I’m sorry my return to print is so skimpy.  I’ll have more in ‘04!  Happy Holidays to you all.  God bless you all and God bless America!
