Welcome back!  Hope that everybody had a great New Year’s Eve and that 2004 has started off good.  Since this month is the month of love, yes, that is right, it holds Valentine’s Day (I hope all you guys have been saving up to buy your women big, expensive gifts!)

I decided to pick my top ten romantic movies to watch together.  Let’s get started...

MOULIN ROUGE

This is my all time favorite movie!  It stars two amazing actors (the irresistible Ewan McGregor and the talented and beautiful Nicole Kidman) and is quite possibly the most romantic movie ever made.

It follows a year in the life of Christian, a young writer, who moves to France in the midst of the Bohemian Revolution.  He falls in love with a prostitute, Satine, who in turn falls in love with him.  They have to hide their love though because she belongs to The Duke, a man madly in love with Satine

This musical film comes to a tragic and heartbreaking end.  “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return.”

BIG FISH

This is a movie that even guys will enjoy.  It is a Tim Burton film and so that right there tells you that is great.  I recently saw this one at the theatre with my boyfriend and I cried through a good part of it.  It is not completely a love story, but it definitely has its romantic moments.  I loved it, and yes, it also stars Ewan McGregor.

WHAT DREAMS MAY COME

This is a film starring Robin Williams as a doctor who struggles to cope with the death of his family.  After he too is killed in a freak accident, he finds himself in Heaven...but without his wife. The movie follows him through his journey to Hell to retrieve his wife and is truly moving.  It is an absolutely wonderful film.

THE WEDDING SINGER

Not all romantic movies have to be serious, I am a big fan of romantic comedies.  This is a great Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore film.

For those who have never seen this one, it is about, you guessed it, a wedding singer, who after being left at the alter, finds friendship with a soon-to-be-wed waitress at the banquet hall where he works.

It is a laugh a minute as you watch the unlikely turn of events.  It is a great date movie, because what guy does not love Adam Sandler?

A WALK TO REMEMBER

I was a bit skeptical about Mandy Moore’s ability as an actress, but I must say she did a good job.  Plus there is always Shane West, and how can you go wrong with him?

This one is a tear-jerker that shows how learning to understand someone who seems so different from you, can open up a whole new world of possibilities.  It shows how you can find love with the least likely person if you just open you heart.  It is a great sappy movie, so girls especially will love it.

THE PRINCESS BRIDE

Now this is a movie is a cult classic, a funny, yet touching film.  It has everything –– love, swordfighting, giants and villainy.  It is an adventure about love overcoming all obstacles and how not even death can keep two people apart if they are truly in love.  A good pick.

SPIDERMAN

What, you say?  How can this be a romantic movie? Well, in most aspects, it is not, but it IS a movie you could get your boyfriend to watch!  You can sit and enjoy the love story behind the action and he can enjoy the pure adventure.  It is a good compromise film. Plus, how hot is Toby Maguire ladies?  Yummy!

DOWN WITH LOVE

I like this movie a lot, it is another Ewan McGregor film that is a lot of laughs.  It shows the biggest ladies’ man, who has never been turned down, get turned down!  It is highly entertaining and showcases Ewan’s vocal talent for doing accents.

SHE’S ALL THAT!

Yes, it IS a cheesy, teen film, but it is cute.  This one is about an artist who is unwittingly picked by the most popular guy in school to be turned into the prom queen.  In the process they wind up figuring out that maybe they were not quite as different as they thought they were.  Sort of a teen flick take on “My Fair Lady.”  Goofy good fun.

NEVER BEEN KISSED

Now this is a great Drew Barrymore romantic-comedy.  Though not the sappiest film you could pick to see, it has its moments.  It shows a young journalist who returns to high school to find a story, and walks away finding love.  I found it quite enjoyable.

Well that is all for this month.  I hope everyone has a great Valentine’s Day and has someone special to share it with, I know I do.  See you next month!
