THE TEEN SCENE

 SUMMERIS HERE!!!!

Hey everyone! Is it not the greatest feeling in the world to have the
sun beating down on your face?  I would probably be able to feel a lot more
of those summer rays though if I were not busy working at Miner-Dunn
Restaurant busing tables.

To all the working adults reading this... “How do you do it?”  Geez...
I just started this job and only work three days a week, but I’m exhausted!

I’ve got to give all you full-time job holders props, especially
waitresses, because I’ve come to learn firsthand that what they do is NOT as
easy as it looks.

Now that I’ve joined the working force, I realize that having a job is
not all it is cracked up to be.  And the sad thing is... it will only get
worse!  So this month, I dedicate my column to all those readers who holding
down “service”-related jobs.
This month I have lots of summer tidbits to share with you...

CONCERT SEASON...

N*SYNC just could not get enough of BBMAK it seems, seeing as how they
have asked them to stay on with them past June 17th. Their tour stop here at
Soldiers Field was supposed to be their final show with N*SYNC, but they have
been added to concerts on July 31st, and August 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, and
13th.

I can understand why *N SYNC would not want to let BBMAK go.  When I
saw the *N SYNC show at Soldiers Field on June 16th, people were going crazy
for BBMAK.  They put on a great show.  I even heard a few people in my summer
school speech class talking about how they bought tickets even though they do
not like *N SYNC.  They went just to see BBMAK.  I cannot wait until BBMAK
headlines another tour of their own.

CELEBRITY NEWS...

MTV has banned rap artist EMINEM’s new video, “Purple Pills,” due to its
pro-drug message.  It’s the first release from the Eminem-fronted “rap band”
called D-12.  The rapper was given a chance to re-edit his video, but his
changes evidently did not satisfy the net work.

There’s a new fad gadget “in” now, which has a sports twist.  The new
MICHAEL JORDAN Palm is from the makers of Palm hand held and it comes loaded
with Michael Jordan trivia, workout tips, info on Jordan’s favorite games, a
digital autograph, and even directions to Michael Jordan’s restaurants.

BACKSTREET BOYS member BRIAN LITTRELL was so grateful when Cherokee County
Sheriff’s found his two stolen Chihuahuas that he donated ten grand to the
Sheriff’s department to buy 30 new bulletproof vests.  Littrell’s missing
dogs, Tyke and Litty, were stolen out of his house last July.

Salsa and pop sensation MARC ANTHONY says he creates some of his best
music when he works himself to the point of exhaustion.  Anthony plans to
release four albums by year’s end and he plans to record them during one,
huge 72-hour blowout session.  The singer told "InStyle" magazine – “Sleep
is just not part of my life.”   Fortunately, Anthony can do most of the work
at his seven-acre Long Island estate where he has a complete studio.  Working
there also means that Marc can kick back with his wife, Dayanara Torres, and
baby son, Cristian, when he takes a break from recording.

MARIAH CAREY is jumping on Britain’s hot “Two Step” craze by hiring
red-hot UK producer MJ Cole to remix her new single, “Loverboy.”  Not that
it will make any difference, seeing as how all her songs sound exactly the
same. Her whiney voice glides over the same melody she has seemingly used on
every single song she has ever done. I doubt a remix is going to make her
annoying voice better, no matter how they remix or alter it.

BRIAN McKNIGHT, duets with *N SYNC’s now short-haired JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
on a song called, “My Kind Of Girl.”  McKnight describes Justin as “the
little white brother I never had.”  The song will be featured on McKnight’s
Superheros album, due out August 28th.

Speaking of *N SYNC...  How’d you like JUSTIN, LANCE, JOEY, CHRIS or
J.C. to call your house?  It can...well, sort of...happen.   Fans who
pre-order the band’s new CD – Celebrity – online at the websites I’ve
listed below will receive a recorded telephone message from a member of the
band.

Anyone pre-ordering the CD will receive an email with a link to register
for the telephone message.  Within ten minutes of registering, their phone
will ring with a message from of the guys and a preview snippet of their new
songs – “The Two of Us,” “Selfish,” and “Girlfriend.”

   Some sites to pre-order Celebrity are:  www.bestbuy.com , www.samgoody.com
and www.suncoast.com

Graduating seniors at Highland High School in Palmdale, California had a b
ig surprise when R&B giant, STEVIE WONDER, showed up to offer some words of
inspiration and sing a quick a capella number.  Stevie went to the
commencement because his son, MUMTAZ MORRIS, was one of the graduates.  The
grads reportedly “went wild” when Stevie was driven to the speaker’s
platform in a golf cart.  No word on how Mumtaz felt about his dad’s
impromptu appearance.  FYI: Stevie’s son’s last name is Morris because
Stevie’s real name is Steveland Morris.

TIME ESCAPE OPENS AT NAVY PIER

I was lucky enough to attend the June 7 grand opening of the newest
attraction at Navy Pier – " TIME ESCAPE" – a time travel   3-D and 4-D ride.
It was a lot of fun. The ride is a partial walk-through and partial sit-down
interactive time travel machine. That’s all I can say about it without giving
too much of the surprise twists it has. I recommend stopping up there and
checking it out...but watch out for the dinosaur! Thanks for the cool ride
Capt. Alphe I.

NEXT MONTH:  Watch for my story about paintballing and a new, super
stellar place to paintball and experience some Xtreme Sports.  Also watch for
my interview with my buds from the yummy Hollywood recording act ––
