BOOKIN’ FOR HAROLD…• Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble members Kevin Anderson and Mike Nussbaum read selections from “The Coast of Chicago” by Stuart Dybek. The event was part of the “One Book, One Chicago” program at the Harold Washington Library. HARD ROCK OPENS…• The Hard Rock Hotel opened at 203 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago last month! A “Who’s Who” of Chicago –– attended the “social event of the year” to celebrate the grand opening of the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago. Celebrities in attendance included –– actress Carmen Electra and husband Dave Navarro, Horatio Sands, Brian Urlacher, Kelly Jo Kurharski (of “The Bachelor”), Styx guitarist James J.Y. Young. Cameron McGill performed. Guests were in awe of the 50 foot ice bar serving buttered lobster on a stick, fantasy chocolate display, martini shrimp cocktail bar, and custom Caesar salads. The hottest DJ’s in the country, DJ Ken Jordan and DJ Scott Kirkland of The Crystal Method, spun records in the custom-built dance club. Over 500 of Chicago’s social elite attended this invitation-only event. As guests walk through the doors onto the red carpet they were immersed in an “adult playground” where all of their rock ‘n’ roll fantasies awaited. LANG LANG TICKLES THE BORDER’S IVORIES ...• Pianist Lang Lang performed at the Border’s Books & Music Michigan Avenue store last month. Acclaimed 21-year-old pianist Lang Lang continued his remarkable rise at this performance, which also included signing for fans, his new CD –– Lang Lang: Live at Carnegie Hall. | ||
