CD NEWS

by Dave "The Flash" Grove

Greetings once again to all of my faithful readers. In this month of
giving thanks, I am pleased to announce some of the fabulous new releases for
the month of November. Think of the column this month as a cornucopia of
music.

 NOV. 2:

Kicking off this month is a brand new album from none other than Danzig,
who gives us "6:66 Satan's Child" (which has been available on the web since
October, but is now readily available at stores).
The sequel to Following the Satellites from The Counting Crowes, is
titled, "This Desert Life".  I'm sure that "Night Life" from the ever so
poofy Pet Shop Boys will be flying equally as fast, except it will be flying
to the used section of record stores!
Ex-Clash man, Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros will share their views on
"Rock, Art, and the X-Ray Style"... Meanwhile, Mariah Carey will show you a
"Rainbow", with rapper Jay-Z guesting... Little sister of diva Toni - Tamar
Braxton - proves that she is "Ridiculous".... and the solo flying Eagle, Don
Henley will tell you "Otherwise".
To cap off the first day of releases, Joe Gallant & Illuminati will unevil
"Terrapin". This is a collection of songs from the Grateful Dead catalog,
only in jazz format, kinda like the Jazz Is Dead stuff

NOV. 9:

All right, I can understand that Fiona Apple may have some "head issues"
that she has to deal with. But frankly, I'm sick of the whiny wench.
Talented, yes...but I'd appreciate her a little more if she'd quit acting
like her issues are pressing in everyone else's life.  Personally, I could
care less about her problems.  Anyway, Apple's follow up effort to the
"Tidal" album hits stores on Nov. 9. Are you ready for this? It's called (and
I'm not kidding) - "When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King
What he Knows throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He'll Win the
Whole Thing Fore He Enters the Ring There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind
Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That
Depth Is the Greatest Of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You
Know Where To Land If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're
Right".   Trasnlation: Look at me I'm Fiona Apple! Pay attention to me 'cuz
I'm a nutcase! Buy my record 'cuz it's trendy! Hey Fiona...I hate trends.
In my opinion, I think the Foo Fighters have it totally together, since
they're saying "There's Nothing Left To Lose".
Those wild-eyed Southern boys are back at it -- .38 Special go "Live From
Sturgis" on this day.  And rapper Lil' Kim exposes you to the "Notorius
K.I.M."
Any Prince fans still left out there?  Well, the Artist Formerly Know as
Prince, now Known as Some damn Symbol of Something returns this month with
his latest, "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic".  His Highness has some heavies
helping out... Chuck D (Public Enemy), Sheryl Crow, Ani DiFranco, Gwen
Steffani (No Doubt), and Maceo Parker guest apperances on the record.
Last and certainly least, Will Smith trys to hop on the whole mellinium
craze with his new effort "Willenium". Maybe at the turn of the century, ol'
Will will be disposed of somehow in the Y2k virus.

NOV. 16:

The one time metal giants Metallica return this month, only in a
different form. Earlier this year, the men who once said "kill em all"
recorded a performance with none other than the San Francisco Symphony!  The
glorious (?) results of that performance will heard for your judgement on the
aptly titled, "Metallica...With the San Francisco Symphony" on this day.
College media darling, Ani DiFranco unveils "To the Teeth' for your
listening pleasure... and Celine Dion finally goes "All The Way" this month,
complete with a virtual-duet with the late great Frank Sinatra for the title
track!
Sorry folks...the 16th is a pretty dry day for releases. For more
excitement see dates above amd below this one.

NOV. 23:

Ladies and Gentlemen... the "Last Tour On Earth" is about to begin!
That's the title of the latest from that sorry ass shock-rocker Marilyn
Manson.  Let's see...he's already ripped off Alice Cooper and David
Bowie...wonder who's style ol' M.M. will  "borrow" for this album.  "Last
Tour On Earth" has 13 songs, complete with covers of the Eurythmics' "Sweet
Dreams" and Dr. Hook's "Get My Rocks Off".  What a way to end the world.
The final Motley Crue release to feature Tommy Lee behind the kit is due
out in time for Thanksgiving.  "Live" is a live album (obviously) taken from
the band's recent tour. Now filling the drum slot for the band is none other
than long time Ozzy Osbourne drummer, Randy Castillo...but he's not on the
album.
From their 1999 world tour, Blondie will also have "A Live One" out in
time for the turkey-day festivities. L.L. Cool J will be serving "G.O.A.T."
at his house instead of turkey...and the soundtrack to "Man On The Moon", the
Andy Kaufman's bio film starring Jim Carrey arrives this day as well.

Please remember that the views and opinions expressed in my
column-o-sarcasm are mine, not that of The Midwest Beat.
Don't like it?  Hey, don't read it!  I use my right of free speech, and
you can too. Any questions, comments, and hate mail can be sent to me
directly at: Rocker78@aol.com. Spank you and goodnight!!!
