Astin appeared at the Border’s Books & Music Michigan Avenue store, where he signed copies of his brand new book, “There and Back Again: An Actor’s Tale.”Long before “Lord of the Rings” catapulted him to widespread acclaim and recognition, Sean Astin was a largely undervalued young actor in Hollywood struggling to make a name for himself (despite starring roles in such well-regarded films as “The Goonies”, “Memphis Belle”, and “Rudy”).His odyssey took him from being the son of Hollywood royalty and a prodigious childhood actor, to being a struggling producer/actor/husband/father, to emerging as a prominent player in the biggest movie franchise of recent memory. Astin’s is an unusual and intriguing story –– and one he details with great care in his fascinating new memoir. | ||
