VESICA PISCES IMPRESSES…

Borders & Music  of Michigan Avenue was the place to be for rockers when the band, VESICA PISCES, fronted by the sultry singer Kelly Fitzgerald, played selections from their new CD – Halfway To Naked.

Their impressive performance inspired a good deal of folks present to purchase the albums, which was produced by Grammy Award winning knob turner, Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick).

The band won the 2000 Los Angeles Music Award for  “Best Adult Contemporary Artist” and is currently out on tour with Chicago rock icons, Cheap Trick.

BLANCHARD BLOWS AT BORDERS…

Trumpet player TERENCE BLANCHARD performed some red hot numbers for a room full of Chicago jazz fanatics at Border’s Books & Music Michigan Avenue store last month.

Just a couple of doors down the street at the newly opened H&M, shopping fanatics lined up for blocks to get in.  The store occupies the space that formerly housed FAO Schwartz.

BEDTIME STORIES FOR ADULTS…

In what’s best described as Bedtime Stories for Adults... “Sex in The City” producer and writer, CINDY CHUPACK, had a good sized crowd laughing at Border’s Books & Music on Michigan Avenue as she read chapters aloud from her new book – “Between Boyfriends.”

JESSE “COOKS” ON GUITAR FOR FANS…

Guitarist JESSE COOK brought his Flamenco-inspired style music to Borders Books & Music on Michigan Avenue last month and was a hit.  Cook, who was accompanied by his stellar band, plays mostly instrumental pieces.  One could scarcely hear book pages being turned in the aisles as the large lunchtime crowd were so drawn into the artist’s spell-binding style of music.

PETERIK PERFORMS…

Chicago radio celebrity, BOB STROUD, stopped by Border’s Books & Music on Michigan Ave last month to catch a performance by his friend JIM PETERIK & The Ides Of March.  Peterik was also kept busy signing copies of his new book, “Songwriting for Dummies.”

Jim Peterik will perform for Midwest BEAT’s  “Pointe East 20th Anniversary Reunion” on Oct. 18 at Second Dimensions in Schererville, Indiana.
