DR.HARTLEY I PRESUME?• Chicago native Bob Newhart was honored by TV Land, America's leading classic TV network, and the City of Chicago with a life-sized sculpture commemorating his role as Dr.Robert Hartley in the now classic television series, “The Bob Newhart Show”. The sculpture was unveiled and will grace the sidewalk at 430 N. Michigan Avenue, the very building seen in the opening credits of the show.
LOOKING FOR A “FRESH FACE”... • Patrick Maloney of the MTV show, “Road Rules,” along with stunning fashion model Timica (with Elite Model Management Worldwide), were the hosts last month for the annual “Elite Model Look” contest, held at the Hard Rock Hotel on North Michigan Avenue. Infamous for finding the next fresh face, this one-of-a-kind opportunity was open to all aspiring female models, ages of 13 to 25.
HOPPING DOWN THE “BUNNY” TRAIL...• Acclaimed actor/director Vincent Gallo (“Buffalo 66”) attended the Cinema/Chicago screening for his new film, “The Brown Bunny.” In 2003, “The Brown Bunny” became one of the most controversial and hotly contested films to ever screen in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. It is perhaps the most frank portrayal of male sexuality ever shown in American Cinema culminating in what is likely to be one of the year’s most talked about scenes. The screening was held at the landmark Century Theatre. Cinema/Chicago is the presenting organization of the Chicago International Film Festival, North America’s oldest competitive international film festival. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2004, the organization’s primary mission is to discover and bring important films and filmmakers to Chicago and to educate through the medium of film.
GLAMORAMA: A GODDESS FEST• Glamorama,® Marshall Field’s annual fashion charity event, has become the hottest ticket in town. It’s the “see-and-be-seen” benefit event of the year that brings fashion, celebrity and entertainment together like only Marshall Field’s can. This year’s show—at the Chicago Theatre was a celebration of goddesses and all things heavenly, passionate, surreal and supreme. The awesome after party was at Marshall Field’s. A few of this year’s celebrities included model Jerry Hall (ex-wife of Mick Jagger) who did a walk-on stage appearance as the band The Commodores performed. Prince’s pal, Sheila E, also performed as did Patti LaBelle. They wow’d the crowds. Boy George was the celebrity guest DJ and “Friends” television star, David Schwimmer stopped by with restaurant mogul Billy Dec (of “Le Passage” and his new place, “The Rockit Bar & Grill”). The most thrilling and by far the most important aspect of Glamorama is the money that is raised for charity. Over the past 13 years, Marshall Field’s Glamorama has contributed more than $2.3 million to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund in Minneapolis, and over the past five years, the event has raised more than $1 million for The Art Institute of Chicago. | ||
